In the latest of a series of new singles from Australian electronic producer Flume, west coast rapper Vince Staples hops on a nostalgic and lo-fi synth filled beat, with Aussie singer KUCKA providing a sweet hook to contrast against Staples’ abrasive and heated delivery. Whilst the lyrical content is decent, it seems that the underdog prevails on this track, as the glitch-hop instrumental sounds great … Continue reading TRACK REVIEW – FLUME – SMOKE & RETRIBUTION FT. In the build up to their new LP Painting With, Baltimore alt. rockers Animal Collective have released a free iOS app which allows users to connect with other AC fans and create lo-fi art with paintbrushes and stamps, whilst simultaneously listening to new track Lying in the Grass. The track features some creative vocal samples from the band and takes cues from the FloriDaDa single released in late 2015, as it’s a fun, upbeat and relatively straight-forward electro-pop tune. Unfortunately, no word yet for an Android release of the app, although Animal Collective fans universally can look forward to Painting With, which drops on February 19th.
